When Tim first posted an advertisement looking for contributors for AnyM, I couldn’t reply quick enough. Having had 2 monthly slots in the BMW Car Club StraightSix magazine for 2 years, and a number of individual articles, I felt it only right to try and broaden my horizons into an online theatre when the opportunity arose.
So, who am I? Tommy Machin, 27 based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. By morning, an MOT tester and manager of a thriving family garage next to Meadowhall. By afternoon and evening, a Classic and Modern BMW specialist in restoration and OE level modification. I’m a regular attendee of the BMW Car Club's track days in my E36’s, and Classic Car Shows in our beloved round-lamp 2002. Partner of Helen, father of Annabelle and the twins are on their way.
As head of the 3-Series Register, my cars tend to be quite one sided. Currently in the stable is an E46 330i Sport Touring, E36 328i Coupe, E36 318i Saloon, E21 316 and the 2002. I have previously had E34’s and do have a soft spot for them, but don’t have one of my own as we speak. Always looking, though. Over the years I’ve done various conversions from 4 to 6 cylinders, prepared cars for drifting & track days, and even attempted a couple of concours events. The next on the agenda is to swap the 3 speed automatic in the 2002, for a 4 speed manual.
I have always been a fan of the interesting. Cars specified well and slightly daring on occasion. Individual colours. Extended leather. Rare options. If you’re reading this and think this is your car, get in touch! I shall be looking for 2 or 3 cars in this scope to feature together, soon.
In this introduction, I want to give you an insight into myself, but also into the things I have to offer individuals and clubs alike. My contact details can be found in my bio, feel free, however small, to fire away with any BMW, AnyM or BMW Car Club questions you may have.
